Pre-Treatment
Your personalized consultation generally takes about 15 minutes to review your skin goals and develop an individualized plan personalized to you. Injections are quickly administered to the desired muscle areas of the face and often described as a tiny prick sensation.
During
Immediately after your appointment there is minimal downtown time. The magic begins to happen between days 3-10 with full effects on day 14.
Post-Treatment
Botox is a protein made from Botulinum toxin. They work by blocking the nerves that contracts muscles, softening the appearance of wrinkles. A Botox treatment is minimally invasive. I treat adults 18 years and older. Just as you would take any other medication it gets metabolized by the liver and is out of your system by 3-4 months.
Botox was first to be FDA approved to treat wrinkles. Following suit is Xeomin, Dysport, Jeuveau, & Daxify. All with similar mechanism of action & efficacy. You can chose from Botox, Xeomin, and Jeuveau.
Results can last anywhere from 3-4 months on average. The duration of your results depends on factors such as where the neuromodulator was injected, the dosage, and your body's own individual processes. Typically, results in the areas of your face that are thinner or that move most frequently will be the first to wear off, such as the corners of your eyes and lips. Results in the forehead and between the eyebrows typically last the longest. Your body metabolizes Xeomin and flushes it out of your system as muscle movement gradually returns.
Zero down time. After treatment, you should avoid lying down for 4 hours, and avoid exercising, drinking alcohol, and putting on makeup for 24 hours. You also shouldn’t get a facial for at least 2 weeks. Other than that, most people return to their everyday activities immediately
Side effects tend to be mild and temporary. The injections, rather than the neuromodulator itself, cause most mild side effects. For example, some patients may occasionally bruise. If this happens, the bruising lasts about 1 week. After receiving injections, people have experienced swelling, redness, soreness, bruising, mild headache (uncommon), weakness in a neighboring muscle leading to a temporarily droopy brow or eyelid (rare), or signs and symptoms of botulism including problems breathing, swallowing, or speaking (very rare).
It is not recommended to receive neuromodulator treatments during pregnancy and while nursing.
